Scripture
2 Thessalonians 2:13
But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you…because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth
Romans 8:12
For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
John 14:26
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
Romans 8:26
Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Thought for Today
Let’s take a moment to give praise and thanks to God for His extreme abundance beyond what our minds can grasp! We do not take for granted His blessings of material resources and people that give us love and support. Above all, we owe Him limitless gratitude for giving us access to Him as the utmost competent and Divine Holy Spirit.
Below is an encouraging reminder of just a few areas in which He pours out His grace. The bible assures us of the following works of the Holy Spirit:
- He is able to SANCTIFY you
God chose you to receive redemption through His Son, Jesus. Second Thessalonians 2:13 states that your belief in this truth, together with sanctification by the Spirit, is what leads to salvation.
- He is able to KILL fleshly desires
We cannot count on the Holy Spirt to force us not to sin. We make the ultimate decision to submit to God. But He is able to draw us near and convict us. The desire to resist sin and walk with God is due to His indwelling presence.
- He is able to ASSIST you
Forging ahead independently often leads to pain, frustration, and failure. Other times we feel foolish and tired after we struggle, complete the task and realize it would have been easier with assistance. Our heavenly Helper is always there to relieve burdens too heavy for us to lift alone.
- He is able to GIVE the greatest gifts
First Corinthians 12:8-10 lists various gifts the Holy Spirit distributes to individuals as He wills. It is our responsibility to learn what He’s placed in us and use them as He purposed. Also, the Holy Spirit is able to discern that we cannot do this or anything else without the fruit of His Spirit (Galatians 5:22).
- He is able to COMMUNICATE to the Father for us
Sometimes we are challenged when trying to put prayers in words that make sense. There are moments we question if what we prayed for was the will of God. The Holy Spirit takes the strain from us to compose prayers perfectly. He is able to flawlessly express our heart to the Heavenly Father, knowing we don’t actually know what to pray for.
Time to Pray!
